Entertainment What’s Coming and Going From Netflix the Week of October 21, 2019

I know things have been grim, entertainment-wise. Succession is done for the season. Joker is allegedly terrible. We’ve had weeks on end of kind of crummy Netflix offerings. But take heart, indoor children! We’ve got a bunch of promising viewables this week and I’m willing to bet at least one of these N.O.’s is right…

I know things have been grim, entertainment-wise. Succession is done for the season. Joker is allegedly terrible. We’ve had weeks on end of kind of crummy Netflix offerings. But take heart, indoor children! We’ve got a bunch of promising viewables this week and I’m willing to bet at least one of these N.O.’s is right up your street. (Spoiler alert: BoJack Horseman returns.)

Jenny Slate: Stage Fright

On Tuesday, we’ve got America’s girlfriend Jenny Slate’s stand-up special Stage Fright, which looks utterly delightful. You loved her on SNL, you loved her as Marcel the Shell and Mona-Lisa Saperstein. Now love her in a satiny black outfit being funny onstage, just as she was in Obvious Child, which you also loved.

David Chang’s Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Chef David Chang is living his very best life, and he’s flaunting it in your face in his new series Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (Wed.), which someone smart called a mashup of Anthony Bourdain and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Chang travels to cities around the world with irresistibly entertaining people like Chrissy Teigen, Kate McKinnon, Lena Waithe and Seth Rogen (OK, fine, they’re not all irresistible) and eats meals and learns some deep and abiding lessons about life. Just kidding. They do eat meals though.

Eddie Murphy in Dolemite Is My Name

It’s debuted in theaters already and the consensus is it’s good. Let’s all watch it! (Friday).

BoJack Horseman: Season 6, Part 1

BoJack’s back.

Thanks to a commenter for alerting me that Bojack’s sixth and final season debuts on Friday, October 25. This will be the first part of the season. The second part is coming on January 31, 2020.

Other Things

Less exciting to me, but maybe for you: Stranger Things + Verizon’s Gaten Matarazzo hosts Prank Encounters, and The Kominsky Method is back and better? badder? than ever with a second season, both on Friday. Who’s watching either of these? Explain yourself in the comments.
